Terms & cancellation
A starting point, not legal advice. Adapt these terms to your own practice before relying on them.
Sessions and fees
Sessions last 50 minutes, in the room, walking the harbourside or online, and are charged at the rate published on the fees page, always visible, never "on application". Fees are reviewed once a year, with at least a month's notice to existing clients. Payment is by bank transfer or card, within 48 hours of each session.
Cancellation
Life happens, and the policy tries to be fair in both directions:
- More than 48 hours' notice: no charge, and we rearrange.
- Less than 48 hours' notice: the session is charged in full, because the hour was held for you and can rarely be refilled at short notice.
- If I cancel: you'll never be charged, and you'll be offered the next available time that works for you.
- Weather: if conditions make a walk-and-talk session miserable rather than useful, we move it to the room or online at the same time. It counts as one session, never two.
The therapy itself
Therapy is a professional relationship with a shared purpose, not an open-ended subscription. We review the work openly every few weeks, and you can pause or end it at any time, though a final session to close well is always worth having. I work within the UKCP's ethical framework, hold full professional insurance, and receive regular clinical supervision as that body requires.
Confidentiality, in brief
What you share is confidential, with the standard limits: if I believed you or someone else were at serious risk of harm, or where the law requires disclosure, I may need to involve other support, wherever possible with your knowledge and involvement. The full picture is explained plainly, in ordinary words, in our first session.
